Itinerary description
Nice circular route at the foot of the Sierra de Hoyo de Manzanares and passing by the waterfall "Cascada del Covacho" (see corresponding waypoint). The area around the waterfall is a perfect spot for some picknicking (with even a stone table). It is recommended to do this route during springtime, when the "jaras" (rockroses) are flowering and all creeks carry water. However, some creeks have to be crossed, which - with a baby carriage (like in our case) - may cause some difficulties, especially the crossing of the "Arroyo de Peregrinos", see corresponding waypoint. Anyway, in summer this route will be probably too hot (weather) and too dry (landscape).
Note: The waypoints "Muro" and "Alambrada" indicate the crossing of a wall and a fence respectively, which surround the private property "Las Rozuelas". It is most probably not allowed to walk the route between these two waypoints, but I realized this when I reached waypoint Alambrada. Since my wife and son were waiting at the public road close to waypoint "muro" and I was so close to my car I didn´t want to return but climbed the fence (sorry for this...). It is better to not do this part of the track but instead continue northwards at waypoint "muro" untill you reach the junction with the beginning of the track, where you turn right to go back to the starting point.
- Route Milestones: Depósito de agua de CY-II en Hoyo de Manzanares - Antigua Colada de la Ladera y Picazos - Cascada del Covacho - Camino de Galapagar - Las Rozuelas - Depósito de agua de CY-II
- Moving time: 2 hr 45 min
- Moving avg: 3,9 km/hr

Hi, I like your treks a lot. Can you reccommend some treks that are ideal for summer time?
Thanks for the compliment Luke. I like them also a lot'; that's why I share them on Wikiloc ;-)
Generally speaking, all tracks in the Sierra de Madrid, above about 1800 m are ideal for summer time. A lot of other (Spanish) wikiloc users always put whether the tracks they describe have a lot of shadow: that may help you also to find an appropriate summer-track.
Cheers,
Martijn
OK. Will do. I will likely try your 19km trek in Ponton de la Oliva this weekend...will let you know how it went! Also the weekend after that, I will likely do a 12km trek in El Vellon, which isnt spectacular, but there are blueberries that await picking at the end of the trek. They are excellent for making home made marmalade. Let me know if you would like to have the coordinates.
BTW, do you do your treks alone? I always go solo with my dog, and of course the GPS. cheers.
