Ille-sur-Têt - Puig Pedrós

A beautiful circuit on well-used paths across an uncultivated, open plateau. The route climbs to the summit of Puig Pedrós, where there is an ancient marker denoting the former southern frontier of France. There are wonderful views to the Mediterranean coast and to the mountains of the eastern Pyrenees. The route descends to the deserted medieval hamlet of Casesnoves, and finishes alongside the fast-flowing River Têt.

Un beau circuit sur des sentiers bien tracés à travers un plateau ouvert et assez sauvage. L'itinéraire monte jusqu'au sommet du Puig Pedrós, où se trouve un ancien repère indiquant l'ancienne frontière sud de la France. Il y a de magnifiques vues sur la côte méditerranéenne et sur les montagnes des Pyrénées orientales. La route descend jusqu'au hameau médiéval désert de Casesnoves et se termine le long de la Têt, ici une rivière au cours rapide.

1 - START. Picnic site and car park close to a small lake and the River Têt, north of Ille-sur-Têt. We go along the track, with the lake and river on the left.

Point de départ. Site de pique-nique et parking au nord d'Ille-sur-Têt, près d'un petit lac et la rivière Têt. Nous suivons le chemin, avec le lac et la rivière sur la gauche.

2 - Track-path bifurcation. We follow the path to the right, uphill, into some woods... At a path bifurcation, we follow the main path, to the left... The path climbs steeply... The path emerges into more open land, with a view back to Ille-sur-Têt. The path climbs and it bears to the right.

Bifurcation, piste et sentier. Nous suivons le sentier à droite, en montée, dans un bois... À une bifurcation du sentier, nous suivons le sentier principal, à gauche... Le sentier monte en pente raide... Le sentier débouche sur un terrain plus ouvert, avec une vue sur Ille-sur-Têt. Le sentier monte et prend un virage à droite.

3 - Path junction. We go to the left.

4 - Path crossing. We go straight ahead... We cross a track and we continue straight ahead.

Carrefour de sentiers. Nous allons tout droit... Nous traversons une piste et nous continuons tout droit.

5 - Path junction. We go to the left.

6 - Path-track junction. We go to the right, along the track.

7 - Track bifurcation. We go to the left.

Bifurcation. Nous suivons la piste à gauche.

8 - Track bifurcation. We go to the left. The track descends a little. Where the track bears to the right, we take a path on the left and we descend into a ravine... We climb out of the ravine, and we follow the path towards Puig Pedrós. At a path bifurcation, we go to the left.

Bifurcation. Nous suivons la piste à gauche. La piste descend un peu. Là où la piste porte à droite, nous prenons un sentier sur la gauche et nous descendons dans un ravin... Nous sortons du ravin et nous suivons le sentier vers Puig Pedrós. À une bifurcation, nous nous dirigeons vers la gauche.

9 - Path bifurcation, just below Puig Pedrós. We go to the right, up towards the summit of Puig Pedrós. The path climbs, but it goes to the left of the summit. Just below the summit, we leave the path and we go up to the right. We follow faint yellow waymarks over rocks to the summit.

Bifurcation, juste en dessous de Puig Pedrós. Nous suivons le sentier à droite, en montant vers le sommet du Puig Pedrós. Le chemin monte, mais il va à gauche du sommet. Juste en dessous du sommet, nous quittons le sentier et nous montons à droite. Nous suivons des marques à peine visibles sur les rochers, jusqu'au sommet.

10 - Summit of Puig Pedrós. Here, there is an ancient frontier marker. We descend to the path bifurcation at point 9. We go to the right. We descend for some distance along, or close to, the line of a ridge.

Sommet de Puig Pedrós. Ici, il y a un ancien gros jalon en pierre de frontière. Nous descendons jusqu'à la bifurcation au point 9. Nous nous dirigeons vers la droite. Nous descendons sur une certaine distance le long de, ou à proximité de, la ligne d'une crête.

11 - Path-track junction. We descend to the right, along the track... The track bends to the left. At a track junction, we go to the left. We are now below the high ground, in the valley of the River Têt.

Intersection, sentier et piste. Nous descendons à droite, le long de la piste... La piste s'incurve vers la gauche. À une intersection de pistes, nous allons à gauche. Nous sommes maintenant sous les hauteurs, dans la vallée de la Têt.

12 - Track bifurcation. We go to the left... We follow the track as it bends to the right.

13 - The deserted medieval hamlet of Casesnoves. We continue straight ahead, on a track where there have been some landslips. At a track junction, we go straight ahead.

Le hameau médiéval désert de Casesnoves. Nous continuons tout droit, sur une piste où il y a eu quelques éboulements. À une intersection de pistes, nous allons tout droit.

14 - Track bifurcation. We go to the right, and then we go immediately to the left. We follow the track with the River Têt close by, on our right.

Bifurcation de pistes. Nous prenons à droite, puis nous allons immédiatement à gauche. Nous suivons le chemin, avec la rivière Têt à proximité, sur notre droite.

15 - Track bifurcation. We go to the left, then we go immediately to the right. We continue along the track and we soon return to the start of this circuit.

Bifurcation de pistes. Nous allons à gauche, puis nous allons immédiatement à droite. Nous continuons le long de la piste et nous revenons bientôt au début de ce circuit.
