Itinerary description
The incredible Isla NP (part of Queensland's Sandstone Belt) is located 38km SW from Theodore. It has only one, 150m official walk to the Lookout but the sandstone ridges are full of interesting areas to explore. This 8km, off track hike, takes you down a steep ridge from the Lookout to Gorge Creek. From there, we walked up the creek line. Along the way, we found an overhang, above the creek, which had some indigenous artwork. Our last find, was a beautiful sandstone cave, high up on the gorge. We would have loved to have explored further but we ran out of time. This is not a formal walk track and has steep sections so please don't attempt unless competent in off trail exploring.

I passed this place while working and thought it would be an interesting place to explore. A bit further north I saw a few places near Springsure also
Thanks Jordy. Not much there unless you want to go off track then a whole new world opens up. 😃 Love to go back to explore further. Will check out Springsure. Thanks for the tip.
