Itinerary description
Charco del Canalon, a great natural swim.
Unfortunately, since June 2023, the waterfall is no longer there. There was never a waterfall anyway, it was a big leak in the above irrigation channel. Hopefully it starts leaking again soon ...
Despite the waterfall, it is still our favourite spot for swimming in the nature.
You walk back to the parking on the same route. OR, river walk and swim back via the river, the Rio Verde. It is a beautiful stretch through the valley. Make sure to wear sturdy hiking boots, as the stones are slippery. Stay low, and you can't fall. It takes a few hours.
The road from Istan to the parking space is unpaved but OK. Our Kia PIcanto does it without trouble.
