Itinerary description

We started the hike from Altos De Istan at 9am in August. We had very little sun until 12pm as the trail runs in a shaded side of the mountain. It was very hot and dry in the afternoon though. It was our first time climbing La Concha. We are amateur hikers (“holiday hikers”) but we are quite fit men jogging, cycling, swimming regularly, and we have found the trail not easy. I’d say 3-3.5 out of 5. There are some bits where one can get really scared, holding to a metal chain and looking down a very steep wall. Might be tricky for someone afraid of heights. We went out in quite soft shoes, sort of trekking jogging shoes. Not good. Get proper mountains shoes as you’ll need it. Our shoes slipped few times. Also, we took 1.5L water each plus snack. Water wasn’t enough. We run out of water last hour. It took us 7.5h but moving time was around 5h as we stopped quite often to enjoy views and make pictures. Views are impressive, breathtaking. When we got back to Altos De Istan we went to visit the town of Istan which is lovely. There are not many places open to eat at 5pm so try to get down there before 4pm if you want to eat. Next time we definitely set off earlier and try to stop less on route.
La Concha is definitely worth seeing.
