Istán – Rio Verde, Cañada de los Laureles
This linear walk starts on the outskirts of Istán village, passes the Plaza de la Iglesia and the church San Miguel Arcángel (16th century), then you pick up the sendero Cañada de los Laureles. This was the route I was trying to do but got lost. It wasn’t well signposted and the path lower down was overgrown in places. At the river’s edge I was getting cut by brambles and bushes looking for the path.
Also note the path downhill was in a bad state of repair. I managed to get to Rio Verde then headed back all the way uphill and stopped off at two Miradors, the upper one was Mirador de la Herriza II, both with great views.
