Itinerary description
Follow Wikilok's direction to get to the parking space. There is space for quite a few cars so parking should not be a problem.
The hiking trail to Charco del Canalón, the waterfall, is pretty well marked. It is an easy walk on mostly wide trails. Just before you get to the waterfall, there is what is left over of an old suspension bridge over the river. With that gone, you must cross the river either by hopping from rock to rock or you just walk through the water.
Once you cross the river, you go up a little and then turn right and you're almost there. The first pool of water you see is shallow and also good for kids, the second one, the one with the waterfall, is deep and has steep walls all around it, so nowhere to hold on to . It should thus only be used by experienced swimmers.
On this occacion, we went a little further. We swam underneath the waterfall and then climbed up the rocks to the river bed. Quite tricky since the rocks are very slippery.
Once you're in the river bed it's easy again, just slippery, so be careful. Every now and then it is easier to swim than to walk. You can probably follow this river bed for a very long time. We turned around just after the Acequia joins the river bed. A beautiful walk and virtually without people in the river bed. The pools before the waterfall may be a little crowded.
