Mars was a Celtic god who was the protector of this pass during the Roman Empire, when Christianaty become the official religion, Saint Bernard substituted Mars as the protector of the pass.

Saint-Rhemy-en-Bosses
It's the most important village of "Gran San Bernardo". It's famous because it produces a very famous raw ham which is made using a very old method, all by hand.

Saint-Oyen
It's the place where we spent two nights. The building is over a thousand years old and is still owned and run by the Catholic Church even the room where Napoleon slept is unchanged from the time he passed through.
