Itinerary description

A gentle wander from one delightful out-lying hamlet of ITUREN to the next exposing many architectural features of Basque village life. The walk starts at ITUREN PLAZA (where you find the school, village ostatua/bar and town hall) and passing over the bridge towards the bucolic hamlet of LATSAGA along the famous carnival Joaldunak route. The walk then passes over the Roman bridge towards AURTITZ (with its village bar/ostatua) before heading up towards the 17th century village church of St Martin with its distinctive tombstones underneath the porticos. The walk then ambles back along country paths through pastures and farm lands passing old wash houses, tile kilns, manor houses en route.
