Itinerary description

A beautiful circular walk around the fields and woods of Ituren, combining waterfalls, rivers, bridges, old woodlands and returning via Ituren church and the hamlets of Aurtitz and Latsaga along the river Eskurra back into the centre of Ituren. Walk past this slightly renovated home as you climb toward a T junction and turn right. This bear right again by an immense oak tree up a steep but short rise until you come out at a tarmacked road. (If it is rainy or muddy look at the map and make your way up to the road via the longer more circuitous tracks to your left).

Go through gate and straight through mixed woods of oak and chestnut.

Possibility to turn left after bridge to shorten the walk. (Look at map) For a slightly longer route bear right and follow the stream up hill through woods before bearing left at the top of the wood towards a stone wall.

Turn left downhill towards the village bar (ostatua)

At the village bar turn left, past the fronton towards the main road, where you turn left for just 50 meters.

Turn right on the bend off the main road towards the river

Aurtitz bridge

Cross bridge onto the river path (el camino del agua) which runs alongside the river and links the villages of the valley. Turn right to Zubieta or left to return to Ituren.

If you want to head into Ituren continue straight ahead and back towards the plaza. If you want to head home to Ameztia, turn right just before the fountain and follow the E - ITUREN (ASCENT A) uphill and back to Iaulin Borda in Ameztia.
