Itinerary description

This walk starts at the outskirts of Cumbre del Sol, near Jávea/Xábia, and traverses this nature reserve, an area of protected beauty consisting of quite a number of beautiful and impressive gorges.

During this walk you will have extensive views of the whole area and you may be surprised by its overwhelming vastness and quietude.

For a great part you will walk along the altitude lines of the lung-shaped gorges without any difficulty at all. The descent to Granadella beach is a gradual one until you reach the point where you have to turn sharply to the south east from which point the descent becomes steeper but never difficult. It is a beautiful descent which will take you to the the lovely situated small beach and bay of Granadella.

There is a good parking area here, which could be an alternative starting point for this walk if you want to end your walk with a descent.

Granadella beach and bay are stunningly beautiful in their simpicity.

After leaving the bay you will follow the road for about a kilometre until you reach another parking area in a bend of the road where you will take the track into the gully to the north west.

Follow the river bed until the white/ yellow markings of the pr cv-354 lead you up a steep ascent to the high voltage pylons. From here on the track climbs gradually to the Mirador de Poble at 260 metres. This part will also give you wonderful views of Cap Nau, the sea, Jávea, the Montgó and much more.

Great walk. Next time will park at beach and do in reverse, as I think the rocky climb will be better at beginning. Beautiful views. Beach bar looks good….

I would prefer to start with the climb from the beach too! When we did this walk the beach bar was being renovated after a huge storm

Thanks for your reaction by the way. We love this place and if you like a rocky climb, do the eye of the Montgó!
