Jebel Yibir exploration and Summit.
This Exploration hike was organised by Mr. Abdeslam of Adventure Extreme group.

Follow this Trail Only with Experienced Hikers with Full preparations.
I have been Fortunate to be acquainted with some Ace Hikers of the region with vast experience. I got an Opportunity to join this hike led by an Expert Hiker.
This Exploration hike was organised by Adventure Extreme group.
Jebel Yibir is mentioned as the 2nd tallest mountain of UAE as compared to jebel Jais. Jebel Mebrah which is bit higher is off limits due to Military intsallations on its summit =.
We started the Exploration hike from the top of Mebrah mountain last Civilian accessible point.
We had to pass through the Military gate and get their permission to pass through. They took our details and allowed, I'm not sure if it is common. It is in their discretion.
We Crisscrossed the mountains terrain to reach various Peaks of Yibir mountain range, Valleys deep down, few remote villages like Kanan where shepherds live and finally summitted the Real Yibir mountain at 1500 Meters Elevation.
This was one of my best Hiking moments.
I have summitted Jebel Jais True Summit Peak 6 times and Here I was, I was at the summit of Yibir mountain at 1500 meters Elevation.
This Trail should be taken as Exploration and Endurance testing by the Hikers that try as there are literally no resting places. Exposed to Sun full time.
Lots of mountains, Valleys, Ascent and Descent.
There are easier ways of Summitting the Yibir mountain, but it will not be fun.
Take care, take Precautions and Enjoy.
Be prepared with all standard and additional hiking items and nutrition.
Being February we went with 4 Liters of water. In other months, you may need more.
Be safe, prepare well, Do not over estimate and enjoy your moments in the middle of nowhere. Take back all your rubbish with you.
Do Not Try Any Mountain Hikes If You Do Not Understand The Mountain Terrains, Dangers From Wildlife, First Aid, Hydration And Snacks, Your Own Fitness, Remote Activity Preparations, Communication Tools, Mountain Geography, Topography, Risk Factors, HSE Requirements, Hiking Risks, Fitness Level Of The Group Members.
Study All Above Matters Well Before Following Any Trails That You Find Online. Please Do Not Over Estimate Yourself.
Better Be Safe Than Put Yourself / Group In Danger And Regret Later.
Lately We Have Seen A Lot Of Unwanted Hiking Incidents That Could Have Been Avoided With Better Preparation.

Hi Patrick, this look quite interesting. I was aiming to hike jebel Yibir long time ago but the road leading up to the mountain seems to be suitable only for 4x4, is that true?I believe it is very steep which may be the reason that it might be not safe to go in a small sedan. Also, there is a guard at the bottom of jebel yibir, who stopped us one time and said not to go as it is not safe.. Please let me know :)

Its a pleasure to hear from you.
Regarding the car choice to drive up all the way to Jebel Mebrah ( The Military mountain ) is bit challenging due to Steep gradient and hairpin bends. Some people have driven Sedans too.
I suggest you put the car into Manual gear mode and try to drive up.
Worse to worse case, the car will drive up on 1st gear.
Regarding the Guard at the bottom of Jebel Yibir, that check point has been moved to the top of the mountain with a Barrier gate with few armed guards around. I am not sure when the Guard post was moved from bottom to top.
I have been to the top Guard post 4 times in last 4 months.
The passage after the Barrier is purely upto their discretion.
They usually ask for your EID and Car registration, the details which they record while entry but no checking during exit.
They may ask your reason for visit, you can tell them Hiking.
Photography is not allowed at the top due to Military base, Drones Banned.

Thanks, Patrick for your response. Sounds like an adventure, but I have to admit driving a sedan car there might not be the smartest idea. Last week we went to Yanas mountain and had to leave the car 4.5 km before the actual start of the trail. But we saw sedans passing through that road, still a mystery how they did it, as some parts were clearly not sedan material:)

Yanas Road is graded offroad with steep incline and slippery surfaces.
Yibir Road is steep All the way Asphalted.
It's your choice to decide.
