Itinerary description
In the very center of the Alcornocales national park close to and accessible from the historic village of Jimena de la Frontera- the Montes de los Narajos hides incredibly beautiful streams with stunning cascades and waterfalls from a very winding but tarmacked mountain road is good but be prepared to park your car 5km away from the waterfalls. The access is closed to vehicles and you have to scramble over a gate with Coto de Caza sign on it - the vast majority of the length of this track is quite mundane, uninteresting plain boring gravel road. It’s only when you descend down to the river valley when the walk becomes interesting. Finding the right path may be a bit tricky but don’t fret, all roads will take you to The Valley bottom and the waterfall and pool. Don’t leave without continuing to the second waterfall 100 meters down into The Valley. I would strongly recommend taking time in this area to swim and picnic and explore pools upstream.
To go back out, you can go back the way you came down or if you follow this recorded route, be prepared to scramble a bit along shrubs and some thorny bushes and boulders . Tricky buyer fun and a bit more challenging.
The 4km ramble back uphill to your car is about of a drag, so enjoy the views, the flora and hopefully you will see some deer or mongoose.
This route is marked as ONE WAY by Wikiloc when it’s a LOOP really
