A fabulous hill walk between high mountains and the coastal plain. A fine viewpoint, on the highest section of the walk, offers wonderful views over both.
- START: In the village of Joch, we go up to the highest part of the village, where there is a car park and a water tower. We follow a track which climbs beyond the water tower.
- Bifurcation. We go to the right of a small monument celebrating a link with the town of Calella (in Catalunya). Just to the left of a track which descends a little is a path which enters woodland. We follow that path. We later see yellow waymarks along the path. The path later climbs through a forest. We are then high above the Lentilla valley, on the right. After more than three kilometres on this path, we meet:
- A forest track. We go straight across the track to follow a path opposite. The path is indicated by yellow-and-white waymarks. This path climbs steeply, it crosses a ravine, on the left, and then it continues its climb, to an open ridge.
- When we reach the ridge, we turn left and we follow a path along the ridge line to:
- The highest point, the "Puig des Feixes". There are occasional yellow waymarks along this path.
- Further along the ridge, at a wonderful viewpoint, is an iron cross. The path then descends steeply, turning slightly to the right. We cross a small col., and we ascend for a short distance, to:
- A hilltop, at an altitude of 853 metres. The path bears to the left. Then we follow the path down the shoulder of a hill. We pass a number of smaller iron crosses on the path.
- At a path fork, we go to the left and we follow another path, down to Joch. This path also descends quite steeply. Near the bottom, it crosses a ravine.
- Path-track junction. We go to the right, along the track. We soon return to our starting point , by the water tower at the top of the village of Joch.
