Itinerary description
drive to the start of the walk at Refugio de Juanar. We walk back along the quite lane for 400 meters and take the ‘way marked path into the valley, before starting our leisurely ascent of a well-worn goat track We climb steadily on first east and then north facing slope to El Pozuelo (the well) and then on to a ridge where spectacular views open up before as the path levels out. This it quite a climb on an uneven path.
We continue on this path with ever changing views, passing Pinsapos en Juanar and Torrecilla in the distance.
Lunch will be taken at this mid-point that will hopefully be a sun trap.
We take wide path to our right before descending quite steeply down (help may be required by some members) but only for a short distance into another valley. Coming to the valley floor we climb out again on to the Juanar – Istan path, before descending once more and returning via the olive groves to our starting point.
This is a lovely walk with spectacular scenery throughout and will be walked at a sensible pace so all can enjoy the Sierra Blanca at its best. This has been graded as a B+ walk though would be a wonderful opportunity to expand your horizons if you are comfortable with the terrain and a regular B walker on this short distance walk.
