Circular route in the Jotunheimen Natural Park.
It's 5 days. In total, without counting the boat, they are 84 Km.
We made it at the end of July.
In Spiterstulen you can sleep in a cabin or camp.
The day before starting the route we made a guided tour to the glacier that is worthwhile. It leaves at 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning. Information in the cabin or in galdhopiggen.no
The path is well marked (except the part of the bridge, see day 4) with red T.
The terrain is for the most part very rocky. Boots that hold the ankles well are recommended.
There are streams of drinking water almost all the way. You should avoid drinking from the larger rivers that come from the glaciers.
Day 1: Spiterstulen - Lake Ovre Hogvagltjonnen.
18Km almost everything going up (about 500m in total).
Night in tent at the beginning of the lake (little place, two stores). You can also spend the night in the cabin Leirvassbu (2Km before).
Day 2: Lake Ovre Hogvagltjonnen - Jendebu - Boat - Jendesheim
18Km going down (about 500 m).
You have to leave early, because there is only one boat a day (at 3:50).
Night in cabin Jotunheim. There is also camping.
Day 3: Jendesheim - Beseggen - South of Lake Russvatnet
16.5Km. At the beginning it rises (700m), then it goes down and climbs a couple of times (about 200m), and at the end it goes down. In total rise: 1050m and descent: 860m.
For the part of the Bessegen it is advisable to bring some more water.
Night in store 1km after arriving at the lake, near a large waterfall. There is also site 1km before the lake.
Day 4: South of Lake Russvatnet - Glitterheim
14.5 km, at first up and then down. Ascent 600m, Lower 400m
ATTENTION: You have to cross a river by a bridge. The new bridge is not where it puts on the maps, but the river below and is not well indicated. As soon as the marked path moves away from the lake, it goes up to 1250m and you have to pull to the right and stay at 1250m until you reach the river. This part of the path is not marked, but sometimes you can follow the footsteps. We, as seen on the map, we have a mess going up.
Night in the cottage Glitterheim. Very friendly and abundant food. You can also camp.
Day 5: Glitterheim - Glittertind - Spiterstulen
16.5 km, at first only climb (1100m) and then just downhill (1300m).
Up there you have to walk on snow and partly on ice. You have to be careful if you do not wear crampons. It is also advisable to use more water.

Una pregunta, durante la ruta se puede comprar comida? Gracias!!

Nosotros llevábamos comida deshidratada para los días que acampamos de forma libre. Los otros días nos quedamos a dormir en cabaña y cenamos y desayunamos en la cabaña. A medio día comíamos barritas y fruta que llevábamos. En las cabañas vendían también comida para llevar ( tambien te podías preparar un bocadillo para llevar del buffet de desayuno). Seguro en la de Spiterstulen. Pero creo que en todas las cabañas venden algo. En Jendesheim si bien recuerdo hay tambien una pequeña tienda/Kiosko. Eso si, no había mucha variedad y es caro.
¿Tenéis pensado acampar o dormir en cabaña?

Pues de momento voy a hacer la ruta solo. Pero intentaré unirme a algún grupito ahí. Me imagino que es una ruta bastante transitada, y más en agosto, no? Por otro lado, si hay cabañas donde se puede comprar alguna cosa ya me quedo más tranquilo. Llevar comida para 5 días es mucho peso... Mi idea es hacerlo todo en tienda de campaña. Un par de preguntas más:
- El gas para cocinar lo compraste en Oslo o en Spiterstulen?
- Sabes si en Spiterstulen puedo dejar una mochila con lo que no quiera llevarme para la ruta?
- Has hecho más rutas por Noruega? alguna otra que me recomiendes así de varios días?

Nosotros la hicimos a final de Julio. Quitando el Beseggen, el resto es tranquilo, aunque ves a gente cada día. En Spiterstulen y Gjendesheim hay bastante gente, pero suelen hacer excursiones de un solo día.
Acampar está permitido y es gratis a más de 100m de las cabañas. Si es más cerca, hay que pedir permiso y pagar. Junto a Glitterheim se puede acampar y cenar y/o desayunar en la cabaña. Se come bien.
Casi seguro que puedes dejar equipaje en Spiterstulen. No sé si te cobrarán algo, sobre todo si no duermes en la cabaña.
En Spiterstulen vendían gas, lo vimos. Nosotros lo compramos en Lilahammer (íbamos con coche).
Si vas en autobús, quizás sea más conveniente empezar en Gjendesheim. La ruta sería igual.
En Noruega solo estuve en las Lofoten pero solo haciendo rutas de un día.

There are many parking places near hut and camping place of Spiterstulen. We slept the first night there.
Hola, quiero hacer esta circular en agosto. ¿Sabes si en Gjendesheim se puede dejar el coche sin pagar varios días? o ¿mejor empezar por Spiterstulen?.

Hola. La verdad es que no lo sé con exactitud. Creo recordar que hay un parking de pago junto al muelle, pero no sé si había otros sitios donde se podría dejar un coche varios días.
Nosotros empezamos en Spiterstulen porque queríamos hacer una excursión guiada al glaciar antes de hacer la ruta (estuvo bien). Y allí si pudimos dejarlo.
