Itinerary description
It is not right to build a sheepfold near an old monastery and the sheepherds are irresponsible by keeping their dogs loose. So please do not walk this trail alone. To avoid the dogs barking follow the dirt road then turn left toward the stream and then climb up to the monastery. On the western side of the monastery climb for 20-30 meters and there you are the trail is well marked, so you will never get lost from here to the end of the trail. At the top of the hill there is a bunker just to orientate You. The view from here is stunning as down there there are two half moon shape beaches and an old abandoned 17th century monastery, that unfortunately has damaged structure and the afrescos as well. Beware of the snakes during summer.

We marked and signposted the trail on behalf of GIZ as part of the Albanian Coastal Trail. It's part of the continuous path from Dhermi to Kakome. More materials will be published soon. Thanks for sharing the great pictures. :)
Just rsise the concern of loose dogs please. The shepherds seem not to bother. I had to wait 1 hour for them to wake up so i could follow up the trail. It is non sense for a tourist attraction to be like Kakome Monastery to have a sheepfold next to it.
I planned to walk from Saranda to Lukova via Qefali Cape but I was discouraged by the hotel receptionist who warned me about the dogs.
Maximum appraisal for the marks. No way one can lose here, especially at the Monastery where the path is a tiny bit complicated

We have done this trail in December. Only met the dogs on our way back but they were friendly. The path prom Kroreza monastery to the beach is steep and slippery.
