Itinerary description
Hike from Kalaw to Inle lake in 2 days (1-2 nights) via Lemind, Part Tu, Nan Yoke and finally Tone Le.
Day 1: We departed from Kalaw at noon and arrived in Lemind in the afternoon where we slept in a very nice homestay (very friendly people, good food, dinner, room, breakfast for 15,000 kyats/person, we didn’t bargain the price).
Day 2: We took off at 8:30am after breakfast, had lunch in Part Tu (4,000 kyats for 2) and finished in Nan Yoke before getting a ride to Tone Le (35,000 kyats, but hitchhiking might also work) where we took a boat to our final hotel on the lake. It is possible to walk from Nan Yoke to the lake but we decided to skip that part as it is mainly walking on or by the side of the main dirt track.
It’s quite easy to find water and food along the way. Homestay could be more tricky but the villagers are friendly and show you where people usually take tourists in. The tricky part is sometime to find the proper trail but with navigation apps on, nothing to worry about.
We did it in dry season January 2020, conditions might be different at another time of the year.
Enjoy!
