Itinerary description

Beautiful trek from Kalaw to Pindaya. My intention was to do it independently but I could neither find any map nor get any advice from locals—they themselves didn’t know the route. So I hired a guide which I eventually didn’t regret at all. In fact, I would still recommend hiring one, the trek is quite long leading through remote villages where no one speaks english. So arranging accomodation or any help in case of troubles/injuries can get difficult very easily.

The trek is beautiful and completely untouristy, we didn’t meet a single foreigner in two days. Also zero plastic waste, just nature, villages and agriculture. The trek is usually planned for 3 days but we insisted on two as we are experienced hikers. It was doable but also tiring in this extremely hot weather. The route is quite simple but can easily become tricky if it starts to rain—expect lot of mud and slippery sections. Splitting into 3 days makes it a moderate trek with plenty of time for taking pictures, taking breaks or chatting with locals. Overal, a great experience if you’re looking for a non touristy alternative to popular Kalaw–Inle trek.
