Itinerary description
A long hike to reach the Blüemlisalp hut at 2840m, which provides direct access to all the alpine routes of the Blüemlisalp range:
- WildiFrau at 3274m,
- Morgehorn at 3620m,
- WyssiFrau at 3648m,
- BlüemlisalpHorn at 3660m,
- UfemStock at 3222m, and
- BlüemlisalpRothorn at 3297m.
If you start from Kandersteg, you can shorten it slightly by taking the Gondola up to Oeschinensee (8chf one way), which is operational until late Oct.
Other than the distance and elevation change, which makes is somewhat difficult, the trail is very well marked and there are only a few, very minimal sections of exposed terrain.
A few notes:
- reaching the Blüemlisalp hut wasn't our initial plan. We wanted to reach the Fründen hut instead through the via ferrata of Fründschnuer. That's why in the recorded trail there is a deviation to the south once passed Oeschinensee. We turn around right before the ferrata due to one of our friends feeling vertigo.
- There are only a couple water streams (that I counted) from where to refill your water bottle.
- I might have lost cell reception right at the summit, which will explain that weird spike in the recorded trail.
- My phone died right after Oeschinensee on the way down. So add a couple more kms to the total distance covered.
