Itinerary description
This route is a nice, not too difficult walk along the vineyards of Kaysersberg. After two kilometers there's a relative steep ascent to the top of this hike, but it's the only difficult passage in this panoramic walk around Kaysersberg.
The walk starts in the proximity of the tourism office which is very close to the vineyards of Kaysersberg that dominate the hills in the neighbourhood. In a relative easy ascent to the castle ruins of Schlossberg you get a first impression of the panoramic views this route has to offer. The castle itself is worth a five minute visit, but I didn't think it was that impressive. There's also a tower which you can visit, but due to the many visitors I chose to continue my walk instead.
Via some stairs the hike goes upwards and is followed by a longer passage on gravel roads. After more than two kilometers the only difficult part of this hike is started with a one hundred meter ascent over a smaller forest path. The reward at the top is a very nice panorama over the cosy town of Kaysersberg. The long descent follows first a gravel road and transforms after a few kilometers into a paved road. Although nature isn't really present on this part of the hike I liked this part as well.
The last part goes through the town of Kaysersberg. Especially the last alley of this route is a bit of a hidden gem. With less than 8 km and a bit more than 1,5 hour walking this is a relative easy hike that can be enjoyed by everyone.
