Itinerary description

If you're looking for something to do around the Kenilworth area, try this fun hike to the Kenilworth Bluff (523m). Start the 7km circuit from the Wilcox Family Park, 5km NW of Kenilworth on the road to Gympie. Initially, follow the fence line past a few farm buildings and up 330 steps. Along the way there are two sets of picnic tables to rest and catch your breath. As you move further along, you follow a huge cliff line and get some beautiful views of the Mary Valley and Kenilworth. After 2.3km, take a left turn off the trail (marked with a rock cairn) and scramble up a steep ridge for 200m before reaching the summit. The top of the Bluff is covered with a thick cover of sheoak and brush. You can either return on the same trail or bush bash along the top, 300m north to the waterfall area above the Moy Pocket Quarry. We then chose to hike west along that creek 600m to an old forest track on the left and across to the top of the cliff line on the southern edge of the Bluff. Follow the escarpment about 500m west and you'll find a steep gravel ridge which will take you down to the second picnic table that you passed on the way up. The full trail is best left to experienced bush walkers only as it is steep and very remote. For further information check out our Facebook Hiking site- "Take A Hike- SE Qld".

Stunning hike with lovely views from the top, certainly a decent amount of Bush bashing along the top.
