Itinerary description
Car park to Motorau Hut, then
Motorau to Iris Burn hut, then
Iris Burn to Luxmore Hut.
Booked this way as the other direction was booked out. Commonly done in anti-clockwise direction making Day 2 the longest day, but Day 3 for me was do-able, perfect opening to do the Alpine part. Day before and day after the track was closed due to wind and river crossing flooded.
Wet track made descent down to car park much easier.
Forgot to turn off wikiloc at car park doh, distance 60 km elevation gain and loss 2080 m
Fabulous mossy forests and mountain ranges and plunging valleys!
DOC huts satisfactory with passionate rangers monitoring the walk.
