Itinerary description
A hike from Khirbet al Souk heading North and following the Jordan Trail for most of the route.
This is excellent hiking country, especially in Spring. Quiet wooded valleys and olive orchards. It is a sparsely populated part of Jordan, so few houses and little traffic on the roads, though Wadi Mahmoud is a popular picnic spot, particularly on Fridays.
The route takes a side road up Wadi Mahmoud, crosses the main road, then climbs out of the valley. It goes past the deserted village of Sarabees, where there is a spring. Some short sections of the route are off-road, but these can be avoided by taking a slightly longer detour. In one place the Jordan Trail has been blocked (deliberately?) by a fence and felled trees, but it is easy to go through a hole in the fence and pick up the route again on the other side of the obstacles.
There are Jordan Trail way-markers for some of the route.
Khirbet al Souk isn't marked in English on Google Maps, but "Mahmoud Rock Clift" is. Khirbet al Souk is about 1km further down the valley. There is a tiny mosque there, which is marked on Google Maps.

Information
Easy to follow
Scenery
Moderate
Please note, if you follow the route directions it is about 95% on sealed road, not the most interesting hiking...
I ended just driving along the out and return bit and just walked the loop. This skipped a long, boring ascent/ descent. The scenery is very nice especially in spring, however the 5% of off road is really the only interesting 'hiking' part.
I needed to watch the app closely as I honestly could not tell when I was on the Jordan Trail. Trail has been ripped up and planted in places, maybe they are trying to dissuade hikers?
