Itinerary description
This trail starting and ending at Delvera is an easy walk through the vineyards and then a short hike up to the 523m summit of Klapmutskop. Klapmutskop contains three botanical zones. On the lower slopes renosterveld gives way to Fynbos as the altitude climbs. Right at the summit and down on the southern slope a patch of Afromontane forest can be found (mainly consisting of small yellowwoods). The hike is easy and not technical but the path at this time of writing is somewhat overgrown and there are many intersections and vineyard roads which can make keeping to the path a tad confusing. The way can be found following a general upward direction. Views over the vineyards to Stellenbosch, Cape Town and Paarl are superb, Simonsberg dominates the southeastern skyline and creates a picturesque backdrop.
