Itinerary description
Kund bangla is a forest department's rest house.
Infact it was, as the building was demolished and it's scrape was auctioned.
At it's location grey structure of new building is partially built with foundation and walls have been raised so far.
I was bit disappointed to see no building but the location was simply breath taking. It offers great views of Kaghan and Kashmir's mountains on one side. Siran valley is no visible at the top but on trek you can view Siran upto Mansehra plain.
Trek is almost 16 KM long, starting from "Munro Trail - Facilitation Center".
Distance is infact of "Munro Trail - Facilitation Center", which is 2 KM before the Kund Bangla. We stayed at camps there that is why we started our descend towards Balakot from there.
We used the Jeep track to descend but locals use a much faster and steeper track as well.
You can use jeeps to reach Balakot as there is a jeep track. Just after 30 minutes of hike, you will reach the village from where you can hop on any jeep by paying per person fare only.
You can camp at Kund Bangla, or you can stay at facilitation center where there are camps, water and washroom facility available.
There is also a small shop .
Camping village and the shop is managed by very kind caretaker "Mr. Gulam Rabbani" and his 5 sons.
Here is Ghulam Rabbani's Number 0345-9549384
Here is the Mr Saboor's number, who works at Facilitation Center 0302-5099376

Wow! Did you do this on foot?
As I mentioned. Its only 14 KM . Wikiloc miscalculated the distance (as it did recent too). I asked the wikiloc people to fix it, but they said they can’t do it.
I know the exact distance because when I reached Balakot bridge I saw it to be 14 km. but when I uploaded it, it somehow made it like I went to balakot from Islamabad on foot.
It also calculated elevation gain and loss wrong.
There was no elevation gain and elevation loss would be around 1200-1300 .
