Itinerary description

The route starts at the foot of El Gabar. To reach the start, from Velez Blanco take the road which passes in front of the cemetery. Continue on this road until the tarmac ends, and then turn left. After 400 meters you will see a turning to the right. Park here and head towards the Casas Forestales which you can see at the top of the hill. Just after these houses the track divides. Keep right and follow this track until you arrive at the sign post in photo number 2.
Turn left and this track will take you to the top of the mountain. There are no more divisions so the route is simple to follow.
The track is very steep and it is always an effort for me to walk up it (my younger companions were almost running, and had to keep stopping so I could catch my breath!) It is well worth the effort because the views from the top are stunning. You can see Maimón, La Muela, La Sagra and Sierra Maria. Enjoy!
