La Fuensanta – Sendero Paco Romero – Sendero Paco Arjona
This route gets five stars from me. It’s absolutely worth the drive to El Burgo. The walk starts from the recreation area of La Fuensanta.
It is the merging of two short linear Senderos – Sendero Paco Romero and Sendero Paco Arjona.
Make your way up the Pista La Fuensanta – Los Sauces until you pick up on your left the first Sendero Paco Romero (El Forestal) at the area called La Parilla, crossing over the small wooden bridge. Passing an old wreck you make your way up to the Mirador Puerto de Ronda, which is a great place for a picnic, and has amazing views of Alcaparaín and Cabrilla.
Carry on for another 600m which will bring you to the old Cortijo Roza del Escribano, where you now pickup the second Sendero – Paco Arjona. At the next intersection take the slip on your left which goes up to Panorámico el Acebuchal, with great views of the Tajo de Ronda.
From here get back to the sendero which meanders with some ups and downs, and passing a candelabra pine tree. Carry on going downhill until you come out back to la pista and Fuente Platero, turning right it’s a nice stroll by the side of Arroyo del Barranco, which had water trickling, and leads you back to the car park.
These two Senderos were well signposted and nicely put together. The area was very peaceful and quiet, with amazing views and points of interest. There was about 90% shade.
It is one of the best hikes I have done in a long while and highly recommended.
