Itinerary description

This hike is along the fringes of Montseny Park. It first climbs a bit up into the hills along dirt roads and descends through forest into farmland, passing by almond and olive groves. Near the end of the hike are the ruins of the Roman villa Can Terres (1st cen B.C.) and then passing through the village of La Garriga is El Passeig which is lined with beautiful modernist homes.

I have followed this trail  View more

This hike is ok. You start with steep climb on gravel roads which is not all that interesting. Some of the views are nice and at the top there is an interesting abandoned house. After the climb you head straight back down through some interesting forest. At the bottom is a castle that does not seem that old and has a fence around it. The fence is new and at one point you have to go around the fence to find a small not marked trail. The only way we found it was with the GPS, which you will need for this hike because not much is marked. Once down off the mountain you walk in and out of forest through fields and around farms. Some of this is nice while other parts are not so great. One of the highlights was a field full of sheep with the castle in the background. This trail should probably not be done in the middle of the day on a hot summer´s day because there is only shade on some of the route.
The overall trail is not technical or difficult and the only climbing is at the beginning, but navigation would be almost impossible without a GPS or really good map. If you like walking on dirt roads with a mix of different landscapes this might be for you. I prefer more small single track forested trails.
