Itinerary description
Hike following the Ruta 18, the longest trail in the Garajonay National Park. Begins with an ascent to the Alto Garajonay and then descends through the magic forest to El Cedro and back.
The last few kilometers are especially interesting as they lead through some areas which were heavily affected by the recent forest fires on La Gomera. The landscape now features a remarkable contrast between endless rows of dead trees and a wild flowering of grasses, mosses and young trees in fully saturated green (see photos #5 and #6).
