Itinerary description

“Cami des Correu” GR-221 from La Granja to Banyalbufar, “Volta des General” to Port des Canonge, loop back to La Granja. Easy technically, nice variety of terrain though physical fitness required due to length. A bit too much on the roads for my preference but still a very scenic and enjoyable loop.

We parked next to the MA-1101 Highway, by the Sa Granja Can Guixa parking lot. Follow the MA-1100 a short way then turn off at the well-signed GR—221 Camí des Correu, a “dry stone cami”. This ascends ~3km before turning down towards Banyalbufar, always following the GR-221.

At Banyalbufar turn right onto the MA-10 highway, you will see the “Volta des General” sign which follows this stretch of road through town and upwards to a crossroads with car park. Here you turn left off the road along the “Volte des General” path which runs parallel to the sea. There are some interesting rock and cliffs formations, a lime kiln and beautiful coastal views. You end up arriving at a small rocky beach at the end of the Torrent de Son Bunyola and then continue to Port des Canonge. We continue along a paved road up through town until an unmarked point where we turn in to find a dirt road and finally signs that mark the way. This is the only unclear part of the route though if you are following a GPS map it is not a problem.

We follow the dirt road/path upwards in the direction of Esporles, until we reach the MA Highway. We turn right on the highway and follow along the road which loops us back to the parking spot.

NOTE: my garmin watch recorded the distance as 18.76km and 716 elevation gain - just for reference for planning as the wikiloc recording is not as accurate.

Sí, es senderismo pero tengo un ritmo rápido especialmente cuando la ruta no es técnica.
