La Herradura to Nerja

The trail mostly follows the cliffs from La Herradura to Nerja. There are frequent buses between both towns. Allow about 5 hours to cover the 18 kilometers.
The trail begins at sea level in La Herradura. Go right down to the end of the promenade as far as you can, and follow the roadway out of town and up hill. The trail will then lead left, through what looks like a private urbanisation, before turning left through the scrub, to emerge onto the roadway again. Go left. before turning down a roadway that leads to Playa Cantarriján. There is a nice bar here, and it's a worthwhile stop.
Leave the beach via the car park and roadway. and be on the lookout for a trail leading left up the cliff. This will bring you across the cliffs and down again to Maro beach, where again a bar is available.
Up onto the cliffs again at the end of the beach. with some easy scrambling involved to emerge eventually onto the main road. This is the least attractive part of the walk, and you will head on towards Nerja using the side of the main road at various points.
Nearing Nerja, you will take the old road across the Baranca de Maro over a single span 1920's bridge. To your right you will see the main road, and above that the motorway, and above that again the 19th century Aquaducto del Agula.

Continue on into Nerja using the public footpath.
