Itinerary description
The walk is about 1 hour 30 minutes in one direction, 3 hours for the whole walk. The scenery is stunning.
The walk is entirely along dirt roads, with good surfaces and some steeper sections.
Drive 15 minutes from the roundabout next to the German school in La Mairena, along a dirt road until it forks, then park. Take the right fork in the road and, after a walk down hill and crossing the Rio Ojen, walk past the Centro Christiano Remar Rehabilitation on your left (photo 1), then up the hill. At the top of the hill, take the right fork (don't follow the sign to Ojen, photo 2). At the furthest point of the walk, where I turned back, there is a view to the white building of the Mijas Centro de drogodependencia in the distance (left hand side of photo 3) and the sea (right hand side of photo 3).
It is possible to start the walk in La Mairena, walking about 40 minutes along the dirt road past large mansions to the start of the marked trail.
It is also possible to make this a circular walk from La Mairena, about 6 hours of walking. Continue at the point where I turned back, past the Mijas Centro de drogodependencia, through Entrerrios, then return to La Mairena keeping north of La Cala Golf.
