Itinerary description
If you do not have a lot of time (which would be unfortunate), or if you are with children, this short hike gives you a great impression of the Pedriza area, an area with curious granite shapes with crags and pinnacles, as well as of the river Río Manzanares. The hike is without any major ascent and takes you downstream from the Canto Cochino parking on one side of the river, and upstream on the other side. At the start there is a large parking and a restaurant.
From the parking lot you follow the main PR-M 16 trail south. You leave this trail to get close to the river for some great views. A bit further downstream you get back to the trail, and cross the Arroyo de la Majada del Caco. A bit further you cross a bridge across the Río Manzanares at the La Foca area. Across the bridge you take the RV22 trail upstream. This path is a bit smaller, winds through some rocks and then goes back down to the river. You follow it all the way upstream and take the ‘GR10 La Pedriza’ trail back to the start. This trail first cross the Arroya de la Majadilla stream on a bridge and a bit further a large bridge back across the Río Manzanares. From here you walk back to the start.
