Itinerary description
Starting at the town of La Riera de Gaià, we'll follow the path along the orchards direction to Ardenya where we'll cross the Gaià river stepping on the stones and then immediately turn left. Now we'll surround the brambles until finding the path going up the hill.
Sant Simplici is a mountain 111 meters high in a virtuous location. On its peak, there is a circular watchtower dating from the medieval period made of stone and mortar. It was probably used to warn of the arrival of pirates in the surrounding farmhouses and towns. The viewpoint is magnificent and dominates a large area, from here we can see in all directions near and far landscapes. Nearby we have the Roman quarry of El Mèdol, fortified farmhouses such as Mas Cosidor and Mas Sorder, vineyard huts and karst land everywhere. In the middle distance we see the incessant activity of the port of Tarragona, the Castle of Altafulla, the one of Tamarit and the one of Torredembarra. In the distance, the Serra de Prades, Els Ports de Tortosa Besseit and the Serra de Pàndols.
