Itinerary description
La Vanne des Moines is a dam that was once built by the monks of “Prieure de Conques” to catch fish more easily.
You start the walk just off the N884 where you can park your car.
You descend towards the Semois and along the way you will stumble upon rock slabs where you get nice views over the surrounding forests.
When you get to the Semois you will see La Vanne des Moines about 10 to 15 minutes later. It is quite impressive how they built it back in the day!
Continue along the Semois for awhile until you find yourself on tarmac. Take the tarmac road and enjoy a nice viewing point called Castelain (with bench) by taking a small path uphill to your left.
You can see the dam from atop!
Continue going uphill on the asphalt road, turn right at a junction and soon you’ll be back at your starting point.

Mooie tocht. Zeker eerste deel, langs een rotskam naar beneden tot aan de Semois.
