Itinerary description

We intended to walk up on the Tiede plateaux but snow had fallen and was closed off when we got there. With the day running out and lost for new walking ideas, driving back down to Puerto de la Cruz I mentioned the two prominent hills to be seen, one with a hotel and that I'd always fancied taking a look at it. It turned out to be a wonderful excursion the other hill had an old monastery (1646) now hosting extensive restaurants (Mesón El Monasterio) on the second hill, there is a park with well kept gardens and a small hermitage (Ermita de La Cruz) on the top. The hotel (Las Águilaso) is huge and they allow visitors to use the bar and terrace if you ask, with great views over Puerto de la Cruz.
