Itinerary description
Hike date: 04/05/2014
My first hike to Lac d'Allos, in the spring of 2014. I hadn't realised I would not be able to drive all the way up the D226 to the highest car park as there was still plenty of snow.
Still a thoroughly enjoyable walk with beautiful snow covered views and lots of wildlife! The marmots seemed to have only recently emerged from hibernation, meaning there were many juvenile ones.
I didn't have raquette à neige, but the would be recommended if you wanted to complete the tour of the lake.
The higher car park seems to be open from around June, weather depending (see my summer hike here).
