Itinerary description
We parked at Les Rousses (before the tunnel) and walked through the tunnel towards the lake first (easier at the beginning than at the end, as it is not a very motivating part of the way).
At the lake, turn left. At a crossing, we went left while the nice path along the lake was right.
After the lake, stay left and follow for "Cabannes des Audannes". There is a part a bit steep and through rocks, try to stay on the left (we climbed up on the right but that was the wrong choice).
Up at 2'400m, you can go to the Lac de Téné in only 10 extra minutes, but with a thunderstorm over us, we didn't dare and turned left immediately.
The path over the former glacier is not always easy and demands some concentration.
Towards the col des eaux froides, the path gets easier again but climbing up again. The path from the col down is rather steep and narrow, but you see the cabanne already.
When reaching the cabanne, turn left and follow an easy path first rather flat, eventually down towards an enormous landslide from the 1940s. We had planned to hike a path on the right, but couldn't find the crossing and I'm not sure the path is open or even exists. Even the path we took had some chains to help you go down.
After passing the landslide, stay on the red-white-red marked path (which turns into a yellow marked path eventually) and go down to Les Rousses.
