Walk by the lake with a threat of storm. It did not reach the end.
June 21, 2023.
Bled is a town situated on the shores of Lake Bled and located in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia. It is located a few kilometers south of the Austrian border and about 50 kilometers northwest of the country's capital, Ljubljana. Bled has 11,300 inhabitants, according to the 2002 census, 5,164 in the town itself.
Bled is especially famous for its glacial lake, which attracts many tourists throughout the year. In the surrounding forests there are several castles and churches. From the castle of Bled, you can have a panoramic view that is much enjoyed by tourists.
As a tourist center it currently offers a wide variety of sporting activities, such as golf, fishing, horse riding and hiking in the surrounding mountains.
The presence close to the north of the Julian Alps, in addition to favoring both summer and winter tourism, allows for a milder climate, by protecting the area from cold northerly winds. Due to its pleasant climate, the region has historically been an important center of recreation and health, being frequently visited by the European aristocracy.

The most notable thing about Bled is its lake, with its castle on top of a cliff and in the center of the lake an island completely occupied by a church that you have to get to by boat, when we pass by the bus we see that the shores are full of bathers, the bus leaves us at the stop and we have to go to a neighborhood in the area outside the "Hostel Lake Bled". There they give us a room with a bunk bed but no bathroom where we shower and rest.
We want to take a walk along the shore of Lake Bled, there is a small inconvenience, there are very powerful storms to the north, although there is no forecast of rain.
We leave the backpacks at the Hostel, and I take the poles because we will go up to a viewpoint of the lake that has 600 meters of accumulated unevenness (300 m up and as many down) and is in the middle of the forest.
We walked through the streets of the city looking north over the Austrian Alps a huge storm that is heard and threatens us, but we decided to follow our initial plan, walk the entire shore of Lake Bled going up to the viewpoint of "Mala Osojnica" or small Osojnica.
We come across all the people who come back from their bath and we head towards the farthest shore of the lake, everything is a large forest that protects us from the great heat that it is today, we are walking calmly along the shore enjoying the most famous views of Slovenia, which always appear in the Eurovision voting.
There are many people on the shore, it is the national vacation destination, but there are times when we are practically alone.
We continue and continue, pleasantly pleased by the views of the island, it's time to go up, a very steep climb through the forest, it's hot, and the thunder is heard getting closer and closer, César has the theory that the Alps would stop the storm and we won't get wet, I would love it to be like that although I don't see anything clear.
We find people going down, with inappropriate footwear, a very steep metal staircase, which we have to wait for a couple who is a little stricken to go down, and at the end of the stairs two Mexican couples who stay there, do not go up the slope anymore and wish us luck, it seems to us that after going up to Triglav this slope is a lie, and we climbed it without backpacks at a great pace.
We cross more forest and arrive at the viewpoint of "Mala Osojnica", the storm continues thundering and Master Wind fanning it seems that it wants to rain but it doesn't...
We went down and went out by another wooded path that stretched out again to the lake, the thunder is no longer heard, we will not get wet, the ducks are not in the water, they are peacefully on the shore.
We walk along the entire shore until we return to Bled passing through the lower part of the Castle cliff but we will not go up today.
It is getting dark and before going back to our hostel we are going to have dinner, we walk around the town a few times looking for the best Slovenian food restaurant, and in those walks we see sunset over Lake Bled.
