DOLOMITAS: Lago di Braies

After leaving the vehicle in one of the car parks near the valley (6 euros per day), we approach the lake where we have lunch and then go back a few metres to take the crossroads leading up to Hochalpenkopf. The path runs in some sections along a dirt track and takes us to Käseralm, a refuge or station that was empty and next to which there is a crossroads, one that goes up to Hochalpenkopf and another that continues towards the Grunwaldalm refuge where we are heading. After a steady climb, we reach the pass where we can see the next basin and where we start the descent towards Grunwaldam, an easy section except for one pass through an area where the path has been covered by a landslide with a lot of loose earth and a steep slope where we have to be very careful as it is easy to slip and there is nowhere to hold on. After reaching the bottom we soon find the refuge where we have a coffee and continue along a gently descending track until we reach the lake where we turn right to border the lake on the opposite shore, which is undoubtedly the best part of the lake with breathtaking views. After going around the lake, we finish the route at the car park.

Tras dejar el vehículo en uno de los aparcamientos cercanos al valle (6 euros por día), nos acercamos al lago donde almorzamos y retrocedemos después unos metros para tomar el cruce de subida hacia Hochalpenkopf, el sendero discurre en algunos tramos por pista de tierra y nos lleva hasta Käseralm, un refugio o estación que se encontraba vacío y junto al cual parte hay un cruce de caminos, uno que sube a Hochalpenkopf y otro que continua hacia el refugio Grunwaldalm hacia donde nos dirigimos. Tras una subida constante, llegamos al collado o degollada en el que divisamos la siguiente cuenca y donde comenzamos el descenso hacia Grunwaldam, un tramo fácil a excepción de un paso por una zona donde el camino se ha cubierto por terreno de desprendimientos con mucha tierra suelta y fuerte pendiente donde hay que ir con mucho cuidado pues es fácil resbalar y no hay donde agarrarse. Tras llegar al fondo nos encontramos en seguida el refugio donde nos tomamos un café y continuamos por una pista en suave bajada hasta llegar al lago donde torcemos a la derecha para bordear el lago por la orilla contraria, que es sin duda la mejor parte del lago con unas vistas impresionantes. Tras dar la vuelta al lago, finalizamos la ruta en el parking.
