Itinerary description
A one-day acclimatisation trek to a stunningly beautiful place up in the Andes.
Transportation can be arranged either through your hostel in Huaraz, colectivos or via a public bus. The start of the trek is off the main road and the transport back has to be either pre-arranged (how we did). Otherwise you would need to be back to a parking space at around 2-3pm, hoping that there would be some collectivos waiting.
We took a taxi at around 5am from Huaraz for about S/.180 and it took us around 3 hours to get there, including a short stop for breakfast.
You will also be required to pay park entrance fee of S/.30.
The trek is clear and easy to follow. Elevation gain is substantial, thus move slowly. Take water and means of purification.
Expect a lot of people, especially if you start late or move slowly.
No guides are necessary if you have basic hiking experience.
