Itinerary description
After the initial ascent, which continues for around the first 2.5km, the trail flattens out and passes through woodland and then into an open valley where you get fantastic views of the Fitz Roy range. The final ascent up to Laguna de Los Tres is fairly steep but on a well maintained, man made trial with no dangers. Some sites really over egg the difficulty of this stage of the hike. It’s not difficult at all in a technical sense - just a bit of a knee buster on the way down. The views are spectacular - an amphitheater of peaks and two lagunas - although the clouds can be very stubborn. I stayed for 5 1/2 hours waiting for a clear view but the main summit still never fully revealed itself. Beautiful regardless.
