Itinerary description
Enjoyed this hike. Starts from the Borumba Dam Wall Lookout. First 2.5km is along the lake with a couple of side tracks to the lake shore, very pretty and tranquil in the morning. Next 2km takes you up a very steep hill, 110m up in the last 1km. You’ll need to be fit for this one.
From the top of the steep hill the fire trail rises gradually to the turnoff to the summit where there is an OK view through a gap in the trees.
I tried several sidetracks looking for views but found nothing spectacular. You do get views of the surrounding mountains and the lake as you follow the fire trail to the track that leads down the hill. The first part of this track is very steep, rocky and slippery so I suggest you take a pole if you have one.
Rated difficult because of 783m elevation gain, the steep ascent and steep, slippery descent.
