Itinerary description

A daily bus from Costa Adeje to the Teide National Park passes the start point. There is some parking close to the start of this trail, but this route is one-way. The trail starts through well spaced pines on a gently slope on an easy to follow dirt path to a spectacular viewpoints (1, 2 and 3) towards Teide, the center of the Island and the islands of La Gomera and El Hierro. El Sombrero (2405m) is close by, the track is easy to follow to its viewpoint, just beyond the top and there are good views over Vilaflor de Chasna and the south of Tenerife. Retrace the route down off El Sombrero. A gentle decent initially on a well defined track towards the TF-21 is followed by a well defined track towards Vilaflor de Chasna as far as the Junction 2 waypoint. I have classified this route as difficult as the path from Junction 2 waypoint is very difficult to follow from this point to the Barranco de la Magdalena waypoint. It is poorly maintained and badly overgrown, the only clues to the route are a number of small stone cairns and a small water pipe. It is worth the effort as it is a challenge and there are great intermittent views towards Vilaflor de Chasna. I have another route, a bit longer, that bypasses this difficult section of track providing an easier route towards Vilaflor de Chasna.
