Lauro Golf – Jarapalos Circular
I started this walk where there is plenty of parking. It only takes 10 minutes to get to the trail that goes into the countryside.
There is a lot of evidence from last year’s fire. There are a lot of tree felling and clear ups going on, and hopefully soon some reforestation will take place.
It is a gentle uphill climb all the way to the Jarapalos Arboretum, where there is a forester’s house, turned into a museum (might only be open at weekends). I was lucky it was open. This is a good area for a picnic.
I then took the path passing the cascading fountains until it picks up the path for the descent. (The original path I wanted to use was blocked and damaged by the fire and fallen trees).
When you arrive at the Mirador de Jarapalos you get amazing panoramic views, and the information board is very informative.
The descent was shaded and a bit windy. Eventually you take a small path on your left which goes into a firebreak (it got a bit confusing here as the path disappeared for a small section). Then you get onto better paths which you follow to bring you back to the initial path that takes you back to the start.
