Great trip!
I have a few questions: is it problem to find villages on the trail where I could buy some food (I don't need a restaurant - a bread, vegetables it would be enough)? In the May I can have problems with water? Public wells are popular there?
There is a danger of land mines in this region?
Hi scuner! Sorry to answer you so late i was travelling. Yes, there are not many villages ON the way, they are one step down the valley, but we never had to leave the track to buy. Stores are very simple but enough, just plan ahead. The positive thing is the water, even during summer you can find it very often, but not that much as you move to the South; they are open sources, small tributaries, etc. we had no stomach problems, but common sense with the water. Track is quite isolated so i don't remember to find any well... I believe May its a wonderfull time to go (green); summer was dry and yellow we were mad about thorns on stockings... But May can be cold, mountains on top should still have snow.
Mines, no mines on the way, but authorities will ask you for a permission to walk the last 2 stages of the full track; check the link in the main comments. The reason its because it is under Hezbollah control; same as Beqaa Valley, the other side of the Lebanon Mountain, close to the Syrian border. You will find wonderful people on the way, always inviting you for a tea; one day we were invited by shepherds, I hope you can manage a minimun of Arabic because no English. Best.
Hello Carlos,
Thank you for the post, note please some of the sections have showed some diversions and updates, like near Tannourine Reserve, the Tannourine square and many other segments along all the trail,
To ensure an accurate navigation which is also here posted and in order not to make hikers confused, please send an email to info@lebanontrail.org and ask for the KMZ file which is always updated,
Thanks,
Chris.
Thank you Chris. Best
