Itinerary description
Winter edition.
Disclaimer: This is not way more touristic Līgatne Nature Trail with bears, wild boars etc.
This is a very beautiful nature trail. In a fight for grip, small spikes under the boots will definitely help. The trail goes along the Līgante river, then a little bit of the Gauja river and then through the forest back to the beginning. The first 5 km is off-roadish with lots of ups and downs as well as a bunch of fallen trees. Then the trail becomes more traditional but later the path presents a gift from me and goes through two hilltops - Cepurkalns (the Hat Hill) and Līgatnes Pilskalns (Castle Hill of Līgatne). Be ready to sweat. If this is not for you, you can skip the hills and continue the main path. The last 1-1.5 km of the trail goes along the main local road of Līgatne town.
