Itinerary description
*IMPORTANT: THE SECTION AROUND NORWEIGAN SEA BEFORE REINE INVOLVES DANGEROUS WATER CROSSING. ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK*
5-day trekking journey in Moskenesøya, the southern part of Lofoten islands done in early June, as an extension of Sjunkhatten trekking (on wikiloc separately).
Weather: expect rain and snow with strong freezing winds and around 0 C temperatures. In early June the area is damp pretty much everywhere, so dry feet are not an option unless you're completely waterproof. A day is indistinguishable from a night when cloudy. Expect very strong winds, especially on crossings.
Track: mostly easy/marked trek with a few challenging sections. The section from Munkebu hut to Reine is unmarked and involves a steep descend and water crossing. There are not many people at this time of the year, so loneliness is easily achieved. Water is abundant and clean, no treatment is required. Cell reception and 4G almost everywhere.
Scenery: absolutely amazing, period. 6 photos is not enough
Transport: buses according to schedule, the ferry to Kirkefjord leaves early if full (like an hour early), so plan in advance. There is little chance you'll get gas cans anywhere in Lofoten, so better buy everything in Bodo and take a ferry. There is a selection of flights (an experience in itself) from Leknes to Bodo on the way back.
