Itinerary description
Walk to the top of Floya (590m) passing by Djevelporten, a hanging rock that delivers stunning pictures.
I started my walk in the center of Svolvaer.
The trailhead is next to a children creche and the local cemetery.
There’s plenty of signs that will bring you to the top of Floya.
You can also follow the blue/white stripes all the way.
The first 200 meters of ascent is on a well constructed stone stairway. But it sure is no gimme walking the steep stairway!
After that there’s more of muddy path/big slabs you have to cross. But again, just follow the blue and white stripes.
At a junction where you can decide to go left to Blatinden, straight on towards Djevelporten or right to go straight to the top of Floya.
I recommend to take the stairs to Djevelporten and from there continue onwards to Floya.
The more direct path to the summit that goes right is quite muddy, and steep, plus you’ll miss Djevelporten.
So I went straight on to Djevelporten to continue from there on towards Floya and then descended in the other path.
Just check the map and you’ll see what I mean. I think the directions I took are the most “comfortable”.
Dont be fooled, although this walk is not that long, it is hard work! Plus you need to be surefooted!
To be avoided in bad weather!
Good luck! The views are STUNNING!
